Conductor Břetislav Bakala (1897 - 1958), a dedicated pupil of Leoš Janáček, reserved a significant part of his career for an exceptionally systematic presentation of his great master's works. Intheir own time Bakala's impeccable and in a sense authentic Janáčkian creations attracted extraordinary attention. Many of them were recorded and thus have been preserved for future generations oflisteners.
