After publishing a new album of Dvořák’s quintets that won critical acclaim, Pavel Haas Quartet are preparing for the second half of the concert season. They are going to perform in a number of prestigious concert halls, participate in several international festivals and collaborate with close music friends of theirs.

Symbolically, the current concert season is going to both begin and end in the Czech Republic. Together with the pianist Ivo Kahánek, the Pavel Haas Quartet are going to open the gates of the Petrof Gallery in Hradec Králové on 30th January as part of the Antonín Petrof concert series. February and March will see them in prominent music halls of Germany, the United Kingdom, Denmark, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium and the Netherlands. This is what Peter Jarůšek said concerning the tour: “We are not only looking forward to coming back to wonderful places such as the Wigmore Hall in London, the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, the Flagey in Brussels, the Victoria Hall in Geneva or the Stephaniensaal in Graz, but also to playing in Berlin’s Pierre Boulez Saal, the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg or the Musikverein in Vienna, where we are going to perform for the first time. We are also excited about collaboration with our music friends including the violist Pavel Nikl, pianists Boris Giltburg and Denis Kozhukhin; singer, composer and instrumentalist Gabriela Vermelho, and violoncellist Tomáš Jamník.“

In spring, the Pavel Haas Quartet are returning to Prague’s culture center La Fabrika, where they are going to present a programme consisting of three string quartets by Dmitri Shostakovich. This event will be followed by concerts in London and Liverpool, at a festival in the German town of Schwetzingen as well as three concerts within a concert series at the culture and historical center Kartause Ittingen, Switzerland. In June, the quartet’s Asian tour is starting. It includes coming back to South Korea (a recital in the famous Seoul LG Arts Centre) and first-time visits to China (Peking) and Taiwan (Taipei and Taichung). The quartet’s members are going to conclude this year’s concert season on 17th June by appearing at the Smetana’s Litomyšl international music festival with Smetana’s String Quartet No. 1 in E minor “From My Life” and Dvořák’s String Quartet No. 14 in A flat major, Op. 105.
