On the occasion of the Year of Czech Music and the Smetana200 project, the Supraphon label has prepared several new titles with recordings ranging from chamber music to symphonic compositions to operas by important Czech composers, with an emphasis on the works of Bedřich Smetana.
The first new release is an album entitled Smetana, Dvořák, Suk, Ostrčil: Music for Prague by the Prague Symphony Orchestra conducted by chief conductor Tomáš Brauner, which will be released on 12 April. This will be followed by recordings by the Trio Bohémo, pianist Ivo Kahánek, violinist Jiří Vodička accompanied by pianist David Mareček, and the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Petr Popelka, etc. The highlight will be a complete edition of Smetana's operas in a luxurious 17CD box.
