Bohuslav Martinů's Bouquet of Flowers was played and reviewed on BBC Radio 3 Record Review on Saturday 2nd December.
The presenter Andrew McGregor said:
“Do you remember me choosing Martinů’s Epic of Gilgamesh as the rec rev disc of week recently? Well another major Martinů recording has just arrived from the same source, Supraphon, his Bouquet of Flowers… it seems to sit somewhere between Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana and Canteloube’s Song d’Auverne… it’s the only recording I’ve heard of it apart from Karel Ančerl’s classic account from the min 1950s, which is very fine but can’t compete with the sound quality of this newcomer, and the performances are equally idiomatic from the team of Czech soloists and the Prague Philharmonic Choir and Prague RSO conducted by Tomáš Netopil.”
