This 10 CD compilation is the only complete collection of the symphonies of Dmitry Shostakovich conducted by his son Maxim Shostakovich - more than ten hours of music. The challenging project is the result of several years of work by the younger Shostakovich with the Prague Symphony Orchestra, Prague Philharmonic Choir a soloists Marina Shaguch (soprano), Peter Mikuláš (bass) and Michail Ryssov (bass). The result of this mutually inspiring collaboration is this compilation of live recordings which is being released to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Shostakovich's birth on September 25, 1906. Maxim Shostakovich was trained by his father from an early age, so his interpretation of this symphonic monument of the 20th century has a uniquely authentic character
